This guide will walk you through the steps to add, edit, share, and remove devices using the Online IoT Platform. It also covers how to access the device dashboard for monitoring and control.
Once you log in to the Online IoT Platform, the first page that loads is the Device Management page.
To add a new device, follow these steps:
For Desktop/Laptop Users: Click the Add New Device button at the bottom of the screen.
For Mobile Users: Click the + button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
A modal will pop up. Fill out the following fields:
Device Name: Enter a name for your device.
Description: Provide a short description of the device.
After filling in the details, click the Save button to add the device.
Once the device is successfully saved, it will be added to the Device Management page with an Offline status. The device will remain offline until it successfully connects to the microcontroller.
The system will automatically generate an Authentication Token that will be used to verify the microcontroller when it first connects to the platform.
To access more options, such as editing, sharing, or removing a device, click the gear icon next to the device name.
Edit: Modify the device's details.
Share: Share the device with other users.
Remove: Delete the device from the platform.
Important Notes:
When a device is shared, the user you share it with will only have view and control permissions, such as reading sensor data or triggering ON/OFF actions. They cannot edit, configure, or remove the device.
Each device will have an automatically generated dashboard once the GPIO configuration is set up.
After setting up the GPIO , you can access the device’s dashboard for monitoring and controlling the sensors and actuators.
To access the dashboard:
Click the Device Name in the Device Management page.
You will be redirected to the Device Dashboard, which shows the sensors, actuators, and controls.
Note: Individual Device Dashboard will be automatically created only after user done configure the device GPIO Configurations
In the dashboard, you can monitor the device’s sensors and control actuators. The dashboard is automatically created based on the device configuration.
Add to Main Dashboard: To add the device's components to the main dashboard for easier access, click the three dots on each component card and select Add to Main Dashboard.
You can create a customized dashboard by clicking Dashboard in the navigation bar. This allows you to monitor and control key sensors and actuators across multiple devices.
In the Main Dashboard, click the +Add Widget button.
A modal will appear where you can choose the following:
Widget Type: Select whether you want to monitor a sensor, control an actuator, or display other data.
Select Device: Choose the device from the list.
Select Content: Pick which sensor or actuator you want to display.
Chart Type: Choose how the data will be visualized (e.g., gauge, line chart).
Width and Height: Adjust the size of the widget.
After selecting all options, click Add Widget to add it to the dashboard.
Main Dashboard page where user can customized the size and placement by resizing, dragging and dropping the components.
Widgets Modal
You can customize the placement and size of each widget in the main dashboard by dragging and resizing the components. This allows you to prioritize important sensors and actuators.
Important Notes:
The Main Dashboard can only be customized from a desktop or laptop. Mobile users currently do not have access to these customization features.
